Please Post Your Forums Successes - March 2004!
Please submit your highlights and successes you have had while participating in the ITRC Forums community. Your feedback helps convey the positive influences the forums have had on your IT life. For example, have you:
1. Posted a question and received a key answer that solved your problem?
2. Have you viewed a message thread that had a solution to a problem you were trying to solve?
3. Found the Forums to be of particular help in sharing information, exchanging best practices, or saving you time?
I'd really like to hear from everyone -- your circumstances, the issues, the outcome, who was of help, time saved, etc.! If you have examples to share, please provide the URL of the thread if possible.
Thanks in advance for your input!
Best Regards,
Dan Gazzaniga

Re: Please Post Your Forums Successes - March 2004!
Once again, the power of search comes through.
MWA failing to collect stats on a portion of the metrics syntax file.
mwa stop
mwa start
No help.
Search for mwa start problems.
Found a thread indicating to look for the midaemon still running and to perform a kill following the mwa stop and before the mwa start.
Back in business in less than 30 minutes.
Thank you HP.

Re: Please Post Your Forums Successes - March 2004!
The suggestion was we book some time in the HP Performance Center in Downers Grove, Illinois to test our DR concerns.
Well. I'm posting from the Downers Grove Performance Center.
In the course of the morning, I've restored our system from a make_tape_recovery.
At this point I have our legacy fundraising application up and running and tested. We're restoring some oracle datafiles from an fbackup tape and going to test our new fundraising app.
Kudos to the forum poster that suggested this. Kudos to HP for standing behind us, an admittedly small customer and letting us test our DR plan. As a frequent recipient of threats, our organization has take a very serious view on Disaster Recovery as our breatherin in Argentina found out a decade ago. That and being in the footprint of the Sears Towers has us builing a DR center.
Now we know we can bring our legacy and new applications up in the first business day the hardware arrives, should we choose not to purchase the hardware in advance.

Congrats to the "Congratulating Committee"

I like this idee! Perhaps that the other members that frequently announce 'promotions' can get in touch and share the password?
Hein.
