Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

I'm experiencing problems yet again with the forum. Below is the error message.

Error processing SSI file '/cm/QuestionAnswerContent/1,1154,LoggedIn!0x785b1012aa92d5118ff10090279cd0f9!0!2!0!0!0,00.html'

I had just replied to a response to a question I had posted, and attempted to get back to display the question and the error occurred.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

Hi Dan,

two suggestions:
1> Could "Report Forum issues" be made a link
on the side somewhere.. cos it gets difficult to find.. and the top 10 questions box has Laurents thread there...

2> Could you make the hp-ux> general the "default" post forums rather than hp-ux> databases when posting a new message from hp-ux>

keep up the good work,
Later,
Bill

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

Hello Dan,

something positive: I did experience all those login
problems for some dayxs now! (hibernating the laptop
with my browser still open keeps me logged in ;-)
And I do only use Netscape 4.76 and login to the
european server (I rarely use my american account
these days).
But for the wish-list (I am not easily satisfied):
- can we have a new category "FAQ" or "Evergreens"?
I am getting tired of answering the "how to install
Oracle8i" type of questions - a prominent place for that
category could speed up the time to find an answer
pretty much (the still seem to ignore "search" or do I
get that wrong?).
- for the "profiles":
- can we have our e-mail-addresses in ther, please?
those of us daring this, at least?
- can we have a list of "notify me" pages, please?
- can we have a list of "our own" questions, please?
- for the display:
can we reduce the "maximum width", please?
Or just set the HTML code to auto-wrap the text to
width of the browser?

TIA,
Wodisch

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

Hello Dan,

thanks for the "notify me" list!
I just found it in my "profile" - since when is it there?
(I do not read my own profile that often...)

Thanks a lot,
Wodisch

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

Hi, I have been receiving this error a lot lately:

Error processing SSI file '/cm/QuestionAnswerContent/1,1154,LoggedIn!0x785b1012aa92d5118ff10090279cd0f9!0!2!0!0!0,00.html'

Also, on numerous occasions recently after I log on it brings me to a blank page and then just sits there. Subsequent attempts to login do the same thing. I have only been able to login for the last couple of days.

Regards,
Rob

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

Some pages are turbocharged today with page pops in the 2 second range, some are as slow as ever in the many seconds range.

Did anything change?

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

Found out what happened at least on the Hertz end, our internet bandwidth was doubled.

It makes the forum pages worth waiting a few seconds for instead of doing something else for 20 or 30 seconds.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

Hello Dan,

today was horrible! I tried to the forums to some new
customers of hp education, but this morning there was
absolutely no way of even just displaying the forums
home page at all :-(
Early afternoon I managed to log in and tried to respond
and even got the "receipt", but the answer never
appeared!
And all that from an hp site - so no other ISP in
between...

Very sad,

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

Hi Dan,

Today from around 7AM GMT I could not open the forum pages at all for about 3 hours when I gave up and went home. Prior to that when trying to access Management Software 'more'
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/FamilyHome/1,1148,121,00.html

I get the following error message.
Error processing SSI file '/cm/FamilyHomeContent/1,1152,LoggedIn!121,00.html'

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

hi,
same problem over here :(
had no access at all yesterday morning, and in the afternoon I could not reply to any posting (service not available).
This morning I got to error messages when replying, but my reply went up in smoke :(
I hope this one reaches the forum.

Thierry.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

Hello Dan,

today it is still not "fast" but tolerable!
Im am at an hp site, so bandwith problems
(or speed-ups) should not be an issue...

Do we get a third part of this thread, as this
gets very long, too?

TIA,

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

Hello Wodisch,

Thanks for your feedback. Regarding your question, I plan to post a new thread each month pertaining to Forums issues and successes. Hopefully, one day only the latter one will be used! A new thread will keep this venue for posting feedback without having the threads grow too large.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

I received this message after I logged on (8:05 AM Eastern), and it took quite a few times of refreshing to get rid of it and get to the forums:

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

Hello Dan,

since I could not find a "september thread" I am posting
here, again...

I just had the "re-login after search" experience, about
20 minutes back, and some "404" when trying to reply.

Is it the return of the "do not search" feature? ;-))

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

Hello Dan, again,

just for being curious (but I am no cat):

what is the meaning of the number on the top of the
reply-receipt pages?
Sometimes no number, sometimes one, sometimes even
two, mostly zeros...

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

Hi Dan,

When I was attempting to enter 'Storage --> more'
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/FamilyHome/1,1148,120,00.html

I got the following error message
Error processing SSI file '/cm/FamilyHomeContent/1,1152,LoggedIn!120,00.html' about ten minutes ago.

Regards
Michael

PS It is great to see feedback for problems being reported back into the forum. This way users know that others may be experiencing the same problems.

Hi Dan,
For quick browsing there should be arrow icons
" < > " to go to next/previous messages.
and also if the forum page is automatically refreshed that wud ne very nice!

thanks

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

Not sure if this has been requested before, but it would be valuable to me if it was possible to post a question in multiple categories. With some issues, particularly those regarding hardware, it's sometimes hard to say whether exactly which category it should be in. Also, I've noticed that if it is hardware related, a question gets little noticed unless its somewhere in the HP-UX categories.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

Hi Dan,

I was unable to login to the forums from 9:37am CDT to 9:51am CDT this morning due to DNS lookup failure on "us.itrc.hp.com". Even the nameserver I tried at HP (ATLREL2.hp.com) couldn't come up with an IP addy:

> set type=ns
> hp.com
Server: neelix.hertz.com
Address: 172.16.140.123

Non-authoritative answer:
hp.com nameserver = ATLREL2.hp.com

DNS request timed out.
timeout was 2 seconds.

What's the HP mantra I keep hearing? Oh yeah, "Always-On" something or other. How about "Always-On and Always-Working"? [Sorry, that was just too easy :-) ]

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (8/2)

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for the feedback during the month of August. I have created a new thread for September (thanks for the reminder Wodisch!). See it at:

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,1150,0xd28e5220af9bd5118ff10090279cd0f9,00.html.

Animesh, your suggestion has been added to the enhancements list.

Bernie, your suggestion is interesting, however it creates multiple threads of the same issue, and I have heard users ask others to refrain from this -- anybody out there have comments on Bernie's suggestion?

Jim, thanks for the great login information -- it has been provided to the support team.

Finally, Wodisch I don't know what the numbers are for after a reply receipt -- I will look into it.

Best Regards,
Dan

PS: Michael Tully -- thanks for your support!
