Re: Please Report Forums Issues - December 2003!

Hi Dan,

this thread:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=306168
is completely gaga. No title, no text and even though I managed to post something, it does not show up except on the counter.

have fun,

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - December 2003!

Geoff,

Those icons you see are for the Business Customer Discussion Forums

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/home.do?forumId=2

They use different icons there than we do. All of their stuff is based on light bulbs and the like.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - December 2003!

I cannot search the forum - lookup of europe.support.itrc.hp.com fails.

Last time I had that problem it turned out to be problem on HP part.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - December 2003!

Dan,

The following thread is showing a blank page only:

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=306168

I've actually answered to the question and was hoping to read the other responses, but that is not working. Can you show the responses as well? A collegue of me posted the original thread, but he said that there was a subject in the original message, so I don't know what went wrong.

Dan:

I wish the forums handled foreign/accented characters better. I will type in what shows on my screen as a french C with a cedilla hanging from the bottom and you'll see have it shows up in forum text.
Here it is: ç
é è should be the letter e with grave and egu accents.

Happy Holidays.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - December 2003!

Hi Dan,

I agree with Roger. I also have a problem with the accent, when I use it to shorten do not or will not or whatever. Also brackets don´t work []. Lets see, what it does to German umlaute. äöüà à Ã

I don't know what you all complain about. It's M$' failure. The forum handles Unicode very well. Just go for some *real* product!

Bummer! It doesn't!

Well, Dan it IS an issue! I did not use word or something stupid to enter these diacritics.

Tim Walsh has gone one better then Pete Randall and his missing link last Friday.

He's managed to create a null thread which even if you get into it, you cannot reply.
Impressive.

This will take you there...

Here's a mis-directed thread that ought to be moved out of the HP-UX forum:

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - December 2003!

Hi Dan:

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

This thread seems to have been erroneously started in the Print Server forum. Is there a way to put it where it belongs (perhaps the Proliant Servers forum) without messing up the people who now expct it to be in the Print Servers forum?

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=66280

As usual, I appreciate the miracles you perform. Thanks!

Roger & Pete,
Both posts have got so many posts to it already, it would be better to leave it where it is.

Thank you for the alert though.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - December 2003!

Dan

today i selected the hpux secuity sub section and discovered hundreds of entries about security alerts with no responses. There are so many they really clutter the place up. I think the person in question is dumping every single one on to the forum.

Do we really need this - I believe it is done with best intentions

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - December 2003!

Hi Dan,

When I did a "search" on forums today, it came up with around 30 results, but all of 'em were showing wrong dates on the search result page. Whan I actually clicked on a thread, it showed as May 2002, where as it was showing Dec 07, 2003 on the search result page. Is that a bug? This was the case for all.

Thanks and have a great holiday season!

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - December 2003!

Hi John,

That's Berlene - a she - and she posts all HP-UX related security alerts as a normal course of action so that we mopes who don't traverse over to

http://www2.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/secBullArchive.do

regularly get at least some kind of notice. If you look at the above linked list, you'll understand why she has hundreds of posts out there. And occasionally we do have questions for her & reply, but normally the notice is what we're looking for.

Rgds,
Jeff

John,
Berlene posts those as a way to communicate to a broad audience, all newly released security alerts.

She's provided a great service to the forums.
