Re: Please Report Forums Issues - June 2002!

I have to agree with the request for leaving in the spaces and tabs. While it does take up more space, it definately makes the entries much more readable.

I was a little upset with one of my first replies in the forums, when I spent all this time formating my response with spaces and tabs to make it legable, only to discover after I posted everything was reduced to a single space.

Hi Dan,

just logged in (no problems there) from a new
PC and found myself looking at Bill Hassell's
forum profile page? Is that a new feature?
Forumer of the month?

Curious,

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - June 2002!

Hi Dan,

I just discovered that OpenView Operations (ITO) (http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/CategoryHome/1,,162,00.html ) displays top ten users and OpenView IT Service Management (http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/CategoryHome/1,,160,00.html ). Is this normal behaviour that depends on the number of items or is it something else?

Jasper, who is curious who is chasing him down in the IT Service Management group....

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - June 2002!

Hi Dan,
I had trouble with the logonservice again (see my reply +/- a week ago - went on holiday for a week). Again the "Unknown" message ... and a timeout a bit later.
Are these scheduled downtimes ... or should I start kicking my own firewall/network-crew :-).

Regards,
Tom :-)
A life ? Cool ! Where can I download one of those from ?

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - June 2002!

Wodisch: you are experiencing what is an intermittent issue with the login service. For some reason, some pages are being cached and you are being directed to those when you login instead of the page where you were at. After you login, you can click the "back" button twice and refresh the page to work around this. A fix should be released in about 3-4 weeks.

Jasper: the number of users listed depends on the maximum parameter set for a page. In your examples, one page is set at 5 and one for 10. I can increase or decrease as necessary.

Tom: in either cases, there has been no planned downtime. There must be a hiccup somewhere along the pipeline, either at your end, our end or along the way. I haven't heard of any issues at our end, but will check.

Dan

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - June 2002!

procura,

Can you give an URL for "the main list"?

Is that an "index page" like <>, or something else?

In my experience, 'empty' postings like this do not show up on index pages, but can and do show up on search results.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - June 2002!

Frank, I always start from here: http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/FamilyHome/0,,117!1!1,00.html but that page changes all the time :)

BTW, the forum seems to be terribly slow today

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - June 2002!

Frank, I cannot find it anymore, neither in his list with questions on http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/TopSolutions/1,,CA739843!1!questions,00.html

Bet I just refreshed on a bad moment. Strange that if I click on the message link I posted, there is no subject in the message, but there *was* (an interesting) one in the main list (otherwise I would not have selected it to read)

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - June 2002!

Hi all,

I have a suggestion to make.

There are great utilities out there written by forumers scattered in the forum such as Clay's caljd.sh (and caljd.pl) and also Merijn's HP-UX software ports which are frequently sought after.

Do you guys think it would be better if there is a central repository for these tools and allow the creators to upload the latest versions?

Just my 2 cents that a central repository on ITRC would be more organised and efficient, thus wondering whether it would be useful for the forum team to create a central repository for forumers.

Regards.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - June 2002!

I responded to a message last night (created on July 01, 2002 21:41 PM GMT) subject: cant create rollback segment (in databases). It is now gone. It does not show up in my list of responses, or in the forum threads. I searched for it and although I did find a link to what looked to be the thread, when I clicked on it, it only showed the name of the submitter and the date.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - June 2002!

1. Time to change to July threads for both issues and successes I guess :)
2. Point system gone mad, as Paula noticed:
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/UserProfile/1,,CA76779!1,00.html

So I guess I will stall statistics until it's stable again.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - June 2002!

procura, thanks. I've created a July thread for issues (was out for a couple of weeks).

Regarding the points, are you referring to Wodisch's profile being light on the points? He has two...check out this correct one: http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/UserProfile/1,,BR8935!1,00.html

OK, any news on the 'j' and 'm' timeouts? Can I safely create new stats tomorrow, fetching 'j' and 'm' from my existing list?

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - June 2002!

Hi Procura,

We plan to release a fix for that this week -- unless something changes, we should be ok by end of week. If something happens that doesn't allow this fix to go out, I'll let you know.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - June 2002!

Sorry folks,

I did not intend to confuse anybody.

And don't blame Dan or his team for this, please!

Actually I was curious wether somebody would even notice...

But the point-system seems to be working alright(I have got points on my "sand-towel" account without being logged in to it for quite some time, now)

Regards to all of you,
Wodisch
