Re: Please Report Forums Issues - March 2002

Seems only fitting that I should be the first complainer of the month.

Just got locked out of a reply again but this time it appeared that hp.com went off the air for a few minutes. I was able to ping att.com but hp.com failed.

It came back a few minutes later.

Thought this to be an Opera problem, but it looks like it is HP's

Yes I can, and the stupid JavaScript is to blame: It just opens the page
without scrollbar and addressbar...

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - March 2002

Hi,

got some errors to post a message around 11:15 CET to 11:30 CET.

Found out, that obviously the pages containing the errormessages got cached by the browser.

Tried in succession:

new message -> Error (server not available)
browser back
new message -> Error (server not available)
browser back
new message -> Error (server not available)
browser back
new message -> Error (server not available)

but then a "refresh" did work while a repeated

browser back
new message -> Error (server not available)

did not.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - March 2002

Hi Dan,
Couldn't get into the forums today at all. I tried regulary from 06u48 GMT this morning to approx. 13:00 GMT this afternoon. After that I don't know, but I just got in now.

The link I tried was
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/CategoryHome/1,,17,00.html

And I got
Server Temporarily Unavailable

I could sometimes get to my own profilepage, but I noticed that the font was different and several icons were missing. I could never get to the forums proper ...

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - March 2002

What was wrong with the forum this weekend? I could get to the Linux and Microsoft forums but HP-UX was dead. I was having a hard time replying to the other two. Had to use my refresh button every time I changed pages.

I'm suffering from forum addiction withdrawal!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the great feedback. Our support and dev teams are looking into this right now. Hopefully, an answer will be forthcoming as to what caused the performance issue over the weekend. I'm experiencing ok performance now. Please standby while I get some more info for you.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - March 2002

Forums appear to be back after much trouble this morning.

Lots of "Failed to connect to the WWW server", SSI Errors and "Sorry this service is temporarily unavailable".

OK, lets try this reply again. The first time I hit submit I got a "404 Object Not Found" error.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - March 2002

Patrick,

Thanks. FYI, for the past 4 hours users have had trouble posting the site. I just got off the phone with the support team. They and the developers will continue to monitor the site to determine if a greater root cause of the recent issues are at work. The work they've done this morning appears to have cleared up the inability to post. It is strange that it has hit us all at once, as performance has been excellent.

Thanks,
Dan

Hello,

Yesterday and today, the ITRC forums went down from 2 p.m. till around now (5 p.m.). Error 404 was appearing. ITRC was still working, but the forums weren't.
