Re: Please Report Forums Issues - March 2002

Hi Dan & The Team,
Hi all you forumers,

again I am pretty late, but anyway, the "state" of the forums is as follows:
* 19545 Existing Forumers
* 3551 Active Forumers
* 3277 Newbies
* 84 Pros
* 85 Graduates
* 59 Wizards
* 36 Royalties
* 6 Pharaohs
* 2 Olympians

JRF is back (from whereever he was), Clay is still "on top" of our olymp, Sanjay, Patrick, and Harry are halfway on that mountain, and we have 44 "heavyheads" (salad-leafs included)...

The coming-kings are:
- BR77281 2323 Carlos Fernandez Riera
- BR63572 2225 Volker Borowski
- CA483573 2053 Sachin Patel

followed by these will-be-wizards:
- CA393246 990 Dave Wherry
- BR165955 986 Saskia Jean
- BR178691 980 Eugen Cocalea

We have a lot of "pros" working on their "Graduate" hats, lead by:
- CA460479 497 Kapil Raj
- CA650643 488 Vincent Fleming
- CA435452 478 Tom Danzig
- CA17082 474 Tracey Pomerleau
- BR114301 474 Clemens van Everdingen
- CA581409 471 T. M. Louah
- CA428565 460 pap

and even more people to wear their own "pro" hat (thugh Trond kind of already deserves one):
- BR658247 250 Trond Haugen
- BR124092 242 Colin Gordon
- CA512020 242 Bob Inglis
- CA369594 230 Angus Crome
- CA452087 227 Rob Mallard
- CA469133 227 Jeffrey S. Sims
- BR184021 223 Stefan Saliba
- BR185232 222 Thomas Kollig

Well, more than 3500 active forumers, and an unknown (to me, at least) number of "readers" (other communities might call them "lurkers"), perhaps Dan & Jeff know how many?

Kind of just another success-story, isn't it?

The whole list is attached, again...

Good luck to you all,
Wodisc

Hi

Thanks to Wosisch for the list.

Attached same list but with position numbers.

I have not taken into account several entries with the same score.

Just for fun

Paula

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - March 2002

Hi,

Sometimes when I try to click on some of the threads forums-ers paste in their replies, I got a object could not be found error message.

Hi Paula, Wodisch:

I dont know how you can get all this information, a lot of i guess...

I think ( i am curious), that adding location of pleople should be interesting... Maybe next time?

Thanks.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - March 2002

Hey,

adding the location - that'll be WORK :-(
Right now all I do is downloading the member-pages (wget is my friend), and parsing them with a little of good old "awk" (hope they don't change the format soon: name, id, and points in one line of the HTML-text), sort it, and that's it, kind of...
But you are free to download the profile-page of every single forumer to extract the "location" (if we all do this, the forums will be much slower - Dan reported problems due to web-crawlers and the like, already).

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - March 2002

Hi:

I wouldnt like you have to work... neither making forum slower, but for statistics, it shuold be nice to see where the forum is used, how it is distributed... well ... all that things.. you know.

An easy solution is DAN attach a file with:

ID or name and location.

I love join command and i promise to make a full list, based on Paula's one.

Just and idea.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - March 2002

Wodish, how large is a .tar.bz2 of the member pages you've downloaded? Can you make that ftp'able. If it's not toooo complicated, I might throw a perl ish analyzer at it
Enjoy, Have FUN! H.Merijn

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - March 2002

Hi "procura",

the 27 html files are about 21MB uncompressed, and about MB 'zipped', but the compiled text of position, name, id, and points is only about 123KB, so find it attached for your convienence (we had a lot of problems recently with non-text attachements...)

Have fun,

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - March 2002

Hello Dan,

this is cumbersome: the textfile I attached for "procura" has got 5 characters from the forums server *for free* - but I did not want them... :-( Or in plain words: there were 5 characters added to the contents (at the beginning!). That would explain why all the binary formats are usually damaged!

Wodisch
