Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

All, I've reported the slowdown and the clock issue to the support team. The clock, while not true GMT, is not impacting the synchronization of posts....thank goodness. Please standby.

Chris Wilshaw, your userid is in the form of BRxxxxxx. This applies to the European "site", while ids in the format of CAxxxxxx are for the US "site". Since you are in the UK, your userid is correct....just be sure to be pointing to the Europe site when logging in. You may see a conflict if you click on a link posted by a member from the US site. The two sites are replicated and improve latency issues across the water.

Thanks,
Dan

Dan,

I think you need to pull the plug on a guy named cici. He's spamming.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

Michael, thanks for the pointer. Once a question is deleted (for whatever reason) the original URL remains. This is one thing I'd like to change, as you suggest (get rid of it altogether).

Ron, thanks very much...spam it was, and the plug was pulled. :)

Ron,

Nobody named cici in that post. Maybe its load balancing but when I click that link I see a legitimate post about video drivers.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

Dan,

Recently wanted to feed my forum addiction from another computer so I went to www.hp.com and selected Support which took me to:

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/eng/support.html

Strangely enough there is no link to the ITRC forum but there is a link to Compaq's forum. To get to ITRC I had to select ITRC Training and Education and then there was a link on the left at the bottom.

Any chance of lobbying with the powers that be to get your own link on the support page? (Or are they intentionally hiding it in order to alleviate the congestion problem?)

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I can't access my support calls for the SECOND time today.

I have something hot going on with Ignite, can't legitimately expect resolution of a complex issue like this on the forums and I can't access the case.

Dear HP,

Please put this on a reliable fast platform. I criticize oracle all the time, but if they have one virtue, its the metalink site stays online and is reliable and fast.

I was hyperventilating. I feel much better, now that this is off my chest.

0 Points please.

Hi Steven,

I'm not sure if our feelings should be hurt or not... ;~)

TOO COMPLEX?......I've seen some real monsters solved here in short order.

You ought to at least give us a chance.....you might be pleasantly surprised. Besides two tracks to solution may get you to your goal faster than one.

Cheers,

Hi Steven Protter:

I second Jeff's comments. You rave about the Forum support you got in Dan's February Successes thread, and now in the February Issues thread you openly pass off the Forum as unlikely to help. That's sad. What's really your view?

Procura, I thought you might like to know that 05 FEB 2003 Beepz data gives a 404 error. Tried it a few times.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

Moe, I've had /no/ problems with beepz lately. Updated both on 05 feb and on 06 feb, accessable right now.

Remember that the site is now mirrord on Clemens' computer, so there /is/ an alternate access route available.

http://www.cmve.net/~merijn or https://www.beepz.com/personal/merijn

If you were refering to the latest statistics not being available on beepz, you are correct. I /did/ forget to upload it . Now it's there. To err is human :)

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

Dan,

For the last 15 minutes or so it's been S_L_O_W. Starting around 1450 EST, through 1510 at least. Reload the home page: 177.53 seconds. Open the issues thread: 130.438 seconds. Interestingly enough, opening the reply window only took 6.156 seconds (so maybe the slowdown is over - I hope).

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

Hi Pete, are you experiencing the slowdown during the same time each day (pls. give it to me in EST format)? I can't find any reported issues with performance as reported in our logs. Just wondering if it may be with your ISP or something?? Can you access other sites much faster during the same time? Strange.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for February 2003!

Dan,

No, it's not the same time every day. There was a spell there last month when there was a slowdown days at around 1030 EST and I still notice lags around that time but yesterday's was: first, not a lag, but damn near a dead halt; and second, not in the morning, but in the afternoon when it's usually not bad (1450 EST).

I normally don't even mention the little lags but when we get into multi-minute page loads that occur for long periods I feel I should point it out. If I'm just adding unnecessary static, let me know and I'll endure silently.

Hi Dan,

Not sure if this has been addressed before, but the "Openview OmniBack" category
might need the name enhanced to include "Data Protector" the new name for OB.

Michael, thanks....done deal on the category name.

Pete, odd. I'll see if I can find out anything from within the support team. Let me know if you find it slowing down during those times again.

Thanks,
