points allocating

How do I check my existing messages (however old), to ensure I have allocated points to responders?

can I list all my submitted messages and their respective replies?

cheers

John,
Just run a search on search.hp.com for your user-id. It should throw up all the skeletons from the closet :-)

Re: points allocating

Hi,
Give search strings as "u856100"
and also try different combination if you remember those subjects.
Did you take a backup?

Re: points allocating

thanks for your responses!

I had tried that from within the forums site, but it produced no results.

I have just tried the hp.com site and still no luck!

Re: points allocating

Hi,

There is something terribly wrong with the search engine at this point of time.

Did a search test on Community forums. Search my own name returns no results. Search for the term HP returns only two results.

You can forget about using the search engine for the time being until it gets fixed.

Hope this helps. Regards.

Re: points allocating

Cripes! You're right.
The search engine is rather uncooperative right now.
Looks like you'll just have to try again later.

Re: points allocating

Hi,

Wait until JRF notices your message, I had the same problem and he gave me the links to the questions I didn't allocate points.

Re: points allocating

John-

If you are really patient (or really bored), you can always page through and look for them. If you decide to do this, work in the subject (like system admin) and not the main listing, since you will get to the older ones quicker. If you were clever and checked for it to email you when ever there was a response, these posts are all listed on your profile page, and you might have an easier time finding them (assuming you havn't cleared them out). If you have the email itself, you can use that.

Re: points allocating

Hi all,

I posted in the Dec problem threads about the search problem (Monday) and have emailed Dan. He's following up on it.

For some reason HP began omitting the forums from searchs at search.hp.com. Since the forums search doesn't work correctly (seems like the only hits I get are from October) I had been using search.hp.com with good results (until Monday).

We need the forums search engine to work and for the forums to be included at search.hp.com.

I hope HP is hearing us loud and clear!

Re: points allocating

What an incognito ID. Any reason? If not, just curious.

You can look at your profile, click on your name in the post. At the bottom will be recent messages that you have posted and also answered. Prior to the recent ones, good luck since it is hard to search for them.

Re: points allocating

the only reason is that I have so many bloomin passwords and ID's to remember, that i use the same ones in certain areas (i.e. all my UNIX login names are u856100).

Re: points allocating

I was just curious if the u###### actually meant anything?

We have cryptic ID's at work forced by data security that start with a 3 char alpha department/work type code and then a 4 digit unique number. I hate that also.

Seriously, click on your author name and look at the bottom of your profile to see your recent messages.

Otherwise, you can request emails be sent to you when there is a response on your messages when you first ask the question.

Counting those three on this question (two before me and this message), it sums to 14 (before this message, 13) that you need to be ok and you will have 33 out of 33 assigned! Congratulations!

Don't thank me, I only browsed 55 pages :P~ Lucky me you are a member from Nov / 12 :)

Re: points allocating

as far as I recall the search never worked well.

I find it more reliable to use google or any traditional web search engine to search the forums.

just limit your search to itrc.hp.com

Re: points allocating

Hi John and the rest,

The best way to uncover your past question threads is to run a search on your userid. However, as most have pointed out, we have been experiencing issues with the ITRC search engine related to searching forums. The results being returned are at times not related to the keywords being searched, and the actual number of results returned are far below expectations. I am in contact with our support and developer teams who are earnestly working to resolve the situation. In the meantime, take Bill's advice and try using the Google search engine to search http://itrc.hp.com. Also, the search engine at www.hp.com generally works, however last Monday forums pages were removed from the search index page. They are reloading them now, so it should work in the next couple of days.

Re: points allocating

Hello John,

the "search" button seems to be working again! I simply searched for your *name* (u856100 - do they really call you that way???).

Let's see:
- in this thread you have 8 (plus this one) un-pointed replies
- keyboard setting: 1 reply
- VGs vs. file systems: 3 replies
- awk/sed scripting: 4 replies
- SCSI addressing: 3 replies

And since your *score* is 19 of 38, that should all of them...

HTH,
Wodisch
