Re: pop3 clients requirements

This includes qpoppper.
qpopper is a popmail server for hp-ux.
Install this, make sure the user has a valid userid and password and any popmail client will work if it can reach the server.
If you have a firewall popmail uses port 110.
For smtp the account can also send mail from the oracle application so long as its now locked. The rules for outbound mail are usually pretty loose with sendmail, hence the volume of spam in your inbox.

Solution
Read this:
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/5990-6786/5990-6786.pdf
Fetchmail is merely a client. Netscape and mozilla are easy to install and both have popmail readers.
If you have outlook on a windows box, configuring it to read popmail is trivial.
