port identification onmachine
hello - i am getting security reports complaining about a url/port on one of our machines (struts software is out of date - needs an upgrade for security reasons). The report shows :port - but i do not see the port active on the machine. The machine resides behind alteaon load balancers (i don't have access to those) - question is: is the port that is shown actually open on the alteon? does it map to a machine port on the unix box? is there a way to identify that mapping and find the local port. Thanks

Re: port identification onmachine
one other thing - also there are multiple machines behind the alteon - is there a way to identify for certain the that is servicing the requests?

Re: port identification onmachine
Maybe I shouldn't reply
because I have no clue about the Alteon load balancer.
But assuming that this one isn't working that much different than for instance the LVS
I would say that you need to get access to the alteon node or ask its admin for support
because only the load balancer will keep the mapping table (similar to a DNAT proxy) by which it will distribute incoming requests to a battery of different servers.

Madness, thy name is system administration
