Postfix using port 25

Hi Forumers,

Currently my messenging team is having issue with Postfix.

Postfix is running but when i did a telnet 25 it is always showing
"trying....."

According to network side no firewall is blocking as well.

Any advise?

Re: Postfix using port 25

Cliff,
does the session actually continue after a long wait trying, or does it end with an error message.
To check network:
ping
traceroute/tracert (Windows)

Re: Postfix using port 25

Checkif port is ok.
netstat -an | grep 25
if you have lsof tool, lsof -i 25

Re: Postfix using port 25

Cliff,

If the sendmail daemon isn't running you should get an error message, connection refused. But to be sure check the following:
Can you do a "ps -ef|grep send" to check if the sendmail daemon is running.
Also check with following command if the server listen on port 25(smtp):
netstat -af inet|grep smtp
tcp 0 0 *.smtp *.* LISTEN

What is the output of kmadin -s?
Do you see anything like ipf loaded.

Re: Postfix using port 25

Please post "postconf -n" output.

Some setups configure postfix to listen to port 25 on 127.0.0.1 only.
