PowerPath Volume Manager (PPVM) on HP-UX.

Hi there

It has recently come to my attention that EMC beefed up PowerPath to include a Volume Manager (some time ago already).

Has anyone here used PPVM on HP-UX? If so, would you care to share your feelings about the matter?

I will dig a bit further and see what else I can find on the topic.

Regards

Didn't understand your questions.

EMC has powerpath which supports Volume Manager.

It depends on to use whether Veritas DMP or EMC powerpath products on VxVM running on HP-UX systems.

Also if you have Clariion or Symmetrix Array, you need to have supported libraries to use EMC powerpath product.

PowerPath does not include a Volume Manager. What you have probably come accross is the annoucenemtn sometime ago that EMC with PowerPath software now supports Veritas Volume Manager -- the de facto multi-platform volume manager.

Thanks for your input. I found what I was looking for - EMC PowerPath did in fact include its own Volume Manager (NOT VxVM or LVM). That, however, was discontinued some time ago :-(

Hello Christof,

Yes EMC supplied PowerPath Volume manager and it is discontinued now in later versions (4.4 and above). I would recomend you move your data if you are using PowerPath volume manager.
