pppd connecting to NT RAS?

pppd connecting to NT RAS?

we have hp 9000 dialing out to nt ras
the modem connects but during ppp negotiations they seem to talk over each
other then the connection drops

we dial into the same ras box with solaris no problems
is there anything special that has to be done hp-ux?
