Has anybody installed IDS/9000 sucessfully and could
give me any hints where to find error codes produces by IDS/9000.
When starting a schedule I always get error 106 and IDS stops.
Error Code: 106 Date: Thu May 31 08:25:34 2001
Praesidium IDS: one of the IDS processes died abnormally: halting schedule execution
He's a real UNIX Man, sitting in his UNIX LAN making all his UNIX plans for nobody ...

Re: Praesidium IDS error 106
I installed IDS and eventually got it to work.
First make sure you have all of the recommeded IDS patches, second make you have the correct java.
IDS would not work for me until I downloaded java from http://www.hp.com/go/java

Solution
If you enable debugging when you start the idsagent process, you should be able to gather more details on this problem. You can enable debugging by doing the following:
Edit /etc/opt/ids/ids.cf to add -d to the CMDLINEARGS field for the idssysdsp and idskerndsp, and make sure the CMDLINEARGS field for the correlator is empty (if there is a -d option, delete it).
Then start the idsagent process:
First create a directory for your logs, then
run 'idsagent -d 3 -e 3 -l /var/log/idslog'
for example.
You will see lots of detail about what is happening in these files:
/var/log/idslog
/var/log/idslog_idskerndsp
/var/log/idslog_idssysdsp
/var/log/idslog_idscor
I work for HP on this product. If you need additional help in solving this problem, please send these logs as well as an overview of your system configuration to our support email alias: ids9000-support@cup.hp.com
We should be able to help you track down the reason for the error you are getting.
Hope this helps,
-Stephanie
