Re: Prequesties and installation steps for mcservice guard in HPUX
Do you really need assistance with installing Serviceguard, or do you really want configuration assistance. Installing the product is a bit simpler than configuring the product.
Locating the correct software product
Table 1-1 on page 11 of
HP Serviceguard Storage Management
Suite Version A.02.00
Release Notes
document at http://docs.hp.com/en/T2771-90036/T2771-90036_2.pdf shows the
various flavors of SMS A.02.00
To install A.11.18, you must have the Application DVD/CD media and a codeword to unlock the product bundle of your choice.
Customers on software contracts are entitled to codewords that match the current version of Serviceguard software they currently have.
However, since the SMS supercedes basic Serviceguard, I don.t know if how this works. Perhaps a conversation with your contract coordinator will add clarity.
If the system has MCOE (Mission Critical Operating Environment) installed, refer to pages 7 and 8 on the link above to locate the MCOE product number that matches the features in the table mentioned above.
Special installation instructions are also in the Release Notes indicates above (pg 23)
Page 25 contains a reference to http://www.hp.com/go/sgsms/patches which will bundle the requisite patches to make the SMS 2.0 version that you install work with the greatest robustness.

Finding the right media
Use these sites to find the media that the software is on:
HP Software Releases & Media by platform:
links to:
Current HP-UX update releases
(http://www.hp.com/softwarereleases/releases-media2/current.htm)
links to:
07/12 HP-UX Media part numbers
(http://www.hp.com/softwarereleases/releases-media2/latest/0712/media.htm)
Look at MEDIA PART NUMBERS page.
Lets say that T2797BA MCOE version of Serviceguard Storage Management Suite is the target software. This is on the 11.23 (11iv2) media.
Per the media part numbers website, look for:
DVD application 11iv2, set of 2 DVDs
Click the link on each of the part numbers and scan for the product number that you want. In this particular example the software is on the second DVD.
CPL Product: T2797BA
Codeword Req.: Yes
Size: 39137427
Revision: A.01.01
Description: HP Serviceguard Cluster File System for RAC with MCOE
