print jobs stuck after printer enabled

When a printer needs to be disabled/enabled due to a printer jam, it may take up to 30 minutes for the queued print jobs to start printing again. Is there a timeout parameter I can change or some other command I can issue to get these jobs to print immediately? This server currently has 271 printers defined and is at hp-ux version 11.11.

Just thinking...

Is the fence priority low on that printer?

Re: print jobs stuck after printer enabled

Hi
Printer should not need to be re-enabled after a pepr jam, it should be enabled after going back online.
What is the version of your lpspool subsystem cumulative patch .
The latest is Patch PHCO_33401.

You can do and lpshut to stop the scheduler and lpsched to restart it, but should not have too.

Re: print jobs stuck after printer enabled

hi,

did you check the printer status?

e.g. lpstat -p|grep disabled

(to check the status of all disabled printers)

you might as well cancel the printjobs and re-submit!

kind regards

Re: print jobs stuck after printer enabled

I have tried to stop and then restart the scheduler and this does nothing for those jobs stuck in the queue. The fence priority on the jobs are all 0. The patch level for the lpspool is at PHCO-29209.

Re: print jobs stuck after printer enabled

Your patch level is very old; PHCO_33401 has a fix for exactly your problem. Always check the patch database for prolems.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
