Send us some more information:

What is your printer, parallel or serial or network,

output of the printer self test page (firmware)

OS you're printing from,

Adobe Acrobat revision,

Details on whether its just with a specific acrobat file or with images or text.

Does it happen on say netscape or just acrobat.

Acrobat has to format the print for your printer and will be slow depending on how many cpu cycles are available to perform the formatting.

Also complex page layouts are rendered slower (takes more cpu processing)and sent to the printer slower since it is a lot of data.

Had the same problem. Simple documents make spool files of 30+ Megs just because they included very small logo's.
Using a PCL driver took 10 minutes and huge files.
Changed to PostScript Driver, couldn't even see the spool file flying by (too fast) and printed in seconds !!!
