Print queues in MC/ServieGuard cluster
Hi all,
As I'm planning to upgrade a server to a 2-node cluster but the server is currently having some UNIX print queues (using Jetadmin). The print jobs are created locally by the UNIX applications.
How to handle print queues/jobs in MC/ServiceGuard cluster? How to handle the print jobs in the active node during failover?
My systems are K-class servers running HPUX10.20.
Thanks.

Re: Print queues in MC/ServieGuard cluster
This is very simply actually...
Create the queus on both machines with exactly the same queue name, lets call ip hplaser for example. You can do this in sam using jetadmin.
When you clients refer to this print queue make sure they reference the floating IP address that is bound to the package that is set to fail over. This way users will always print to the machine that is currently running the package.

Minimum effort maximum output!

Re: Print queues in MC/ServieGuard cluster
You can use Sam on you current server to "export" the print queue definitions and them import them on the second server in the cluster. Use "Save Spooler Configuration" on your current server, and then "Restore Spooler Configuration" on the second server in the cluster. This is a quick and easy way to sync your print queue definitions between servers in a cluster
