Print Server Error Message " Check your host table "
Good Morning,
I am configuring a AXIS 5600 print server in HPUX 1020 on HP 9000 D250 Server.
The print server did not function and I have the following error message "Check your host table"
I using 10.26.1.30 to configure the print server and the HP 9000 D250 Server is using 10.26.1.2
1. Does anybody know what problem is it ?
2. Any file I can check for editing other that etc/hosts ?
Thanks and have a nice day!!!
Best Regards
Taics

Re: Print Server Error Message " Check your host table "
Need a bit more information. How did you add the print server? Since this is a non-HP adapter, you cannot use SAM's network printer option -- it is defined as a remote printer. There are 3 items in the SAM menu (or the lpadmin command) you must provide:
1. queue name (the name for the printer in HP-UX)
2. remote server name (I would use the IP address to avoid DNS and host file issues)
3. The server's internal name for the printer.
The user manual for this (obsolete: http://www.axis.com/techsup/prtsrv/axis_5600/index.htm) gives no information on how to configure the print server for HP-UX. There is the axinstall script at axis.com (albeit quite difficult to find as it is also obsolete) and the script does appear to support HP-UX. If you are using this (lengthy) script, you may be able to use an IP address rather than a hostname. If you use a hostname, do not run the script until you can ping the hostname. You may be running DNS for hostname resolution and will have to fix the name resolver before proceeding.
