I want to know the differnce between lpa and PR1 in terms of remote printers

I am not sure if it is my ignorance but lap or PR1 did not make any sense to me. Would that be the naming convention used on your particular system ? You need to be more specific I think

when I see through SAM, some remote printers are configured as lpa on printername (eg. lpa on ab12) and some are configured as PR1 on printername (eg. PR1 on ab12). What's the difference?

Looks like these are the names of the printers on the remote print host, called ab12. Just naming. You might want to contact the administrator of the print host ab12 to ask this question. They might be different types of printers.

ok. So that case lpa and PR1 are the local print queue names which is pointing to remote queue on host ab12.

You can choose any queue name on local system which should point to remote printer/queues on host ab12.
