Printer doesn't print from unix

I have an hp 3055 printer that prints fine from windows, but nothing from unix (hpux 11.11). I have several similar printers (3052) that had to use a special model script (net_clj3052/3055). I used addqueue to create the queues for the 3052's and they work fine. The 3055 is on a different vlan, though I have a working 3052 at the same site. I can ping the printer's IP address, and a telnet connection can be established to port 9100 at that IP. The printer configurations seem identical to the 3052s (using the config shown when looking at the printer's web interface pages.) Any ideas on how to pursue troubleshooting this? thanks

Re: Printer doesn't print from unix

Odd...the model script website lists net_lj3052-55.sh.Z, but the printer specs at:

http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF06a/18972-18972-3328064-12004-3328082-1161389.html

don't indicate support for UNIX. A quick search of the forums don't yield any hits for that model either. The specs don't mention JetDirect support either.

This may be one of those printers that has the "smarts" in the windows software, instead of in the printer, but I don't know how you would determine that...

I suppose you could try the PCL5 model script, or maybe the basic laserjet4 and see what happens. Other than that, I think the only recourse would be to contact HP support to see if it supposed to be supported in HPUX, or install it as a remote printer going to the Windows box (which limits your options).

Re: Printer doesn't print from unix

Dave,

I've found that if I forgo some of the newer drivers and try a few of the older ones, then things start to work with reluctant HP Laser printers. Try LaserjetIIsi, Laserjet4, Laserjet 4000, etc.
