SolutionOtherwise. Start your basic trouble shooting.
Skip the spooler and telnet directly to the printer port. Confirm connectivity
Type some stuff while on the printer port then hit the form feed on the printer. Confirm printer function.
re-add printer as mentioned checking / rechecking the config. Test with simple print jobs, i.e. /etc/copyright file.

Re: Printer error
The most troublesome is the remote server connection. If anything goes wrong with the communication between the computers, setup on the remote system, wrong name for the remote printer, etc, all return the meaningless non-zero status. All of this will require troubleshooting both machines to get it to work. Then there's the problem with remote printer servers that cannot process -o options.
If you have a JetDirect LAN card in the printer (or an external JetDirect LAN adapter) then the task is infinitely easier. Start with the command:
hpnpadmin -v 12.34.56.78
where 12.34.56.78 is the printer's IP address.
How is the printer connected?

Re: Printer error
Troubleshooting offline printer problems in Windows
Check to make sure the printer is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your device. ...
Unplug and restart your printer.
Set your printer as the default printer.
Clear the print queue.
Reset the service that manages the printing queue.
