printer gets disabled even after enabling it

Printer is created on server at SAP level.
When checked at OS level it shows:
lpstat -ptw15
printer tw15 disabled since Dec 5 07:43 -
error 1 returned
fence priority : 0
tried to enable the printer but still not working

there are lots of requests pending in the queue. whenever i enable the printer it gets disabled in a fraction of second.

Re: printer gets disabled even after enabling it

Lots of questions are unanswered:

1) What type of printer at the HP-UX level (local attached, remote or network)?

2) If network, can you ping the printer?

3) Is the printer online and working? Are there any problems with the printer?

4) What type of printer (HP, Dell, other)? If it is networked does it use an internal jet direct card, and external jet direct box or some other type of network device?

Lots of basic troubleshooting needs to be done and lots more information needs to be provided.

Re: printer gets disabled even after enabling it

hi,

Do you get any timeouts when you ping the remote host?

E.g.
# ping 1472

revert

kind regards

Re: printer gets disabled even after enabling it

Are you sure it is a printer when you ping it?

try:

/opt/hpnpl/bin/hpnpadmin -i tw15

If it is, then recreate the queue....

cancel -e tw15

lpshut

addqueue -i 9998 -q tw15 -h tw15.yourdomain.com

lpsched -v

Now try to print to it.
