Printer interface file lost record of IP address

Hi There

By mistake I have replaced IP addrees with a wrong DNS entry in the interface file in /etc/lp/interface. Now I need the IP address.

Is there any way I can find out IP address.

Thanks in advance

Re: Printer interface file lost record of IP address

Hi,

Do you perform full system backups? If you do, restore from your latest successful backup of /etc/lp/interface/xyz before your change.

Hope this helps. Regards.

Re: Printer interface file lost record of IP address

Hi Nisar

try looking in the /usr/spool/lp/interface/printer name

there is a file over there which will either ahve the name or the IP adress depending on how it was created .Also you may have an entry in the /etc/hosts file .

All the best

Re: Printer interface file lost record of IP address

If you've used SAM to save your spooler configuration at any point before this happened you can get those saved config files in /var/sam/lp/interface.
If that directory does not exist, I do not think any other way will do except for recovering those files from backup.
