Printer Issue

One of the printer is not printing. It is a label Intermec Printer and it is connected to jet direct. I can ping the printer and see its status as enabled. I have also recycled the printer on os but still no progress.
When I opened the configuration page by typing the ip address on my web browser, it shows the device is not connected and as offline.

Any suggestion in this regard, please?

Re: Printer Issue

Can you send a test print from the jetdirect?

I believe you just press the test button down, or maybe hold it ( I think holding it resets it to defaults ).

Get one piece at a time working.

Jetdirect to printer then host to jetdirect.

Depending on the jetdirect model it may or maynot have a web admin page ( think this is only avail from internal card).

You can also telnet to the jetdirect to review its settings.

Re: Printer Issue

Just to confirm.

You have an HP Jetdirect with this printer attached to it via a parallel or serial cable ?

If true, then if the jetdirect status page does not show a printer attached to its port then we need to work on that first.

1) printer configured for parallel or serial port.
2) known good cable
3) known good printer ( e.g. hook up with same cable to PC or laptop and make it print something )

Re: Printer Issue

You have done most things you can at the network / OS level. The next step is the actual printer itself.

Have you checked the printer? The fact that the jet direct shows that the printer is offline indicates that there is probably an issue with the printer itself.

You need to look at the printer and see if it needs labels or a new ribbon. You should also verify that the ribbon is installed correctly.

I had an incident recently where the ribbon was not installed correctly and the printer 'kind of' worked.
