Re: Printer Linejet 1500Q

In this case, you have to defind it as a remote printer, using SAM->Printers and Plotters->LP Spooler->Printers and Plotters->Actions->Add Remote printer/plotter. There you have to specify the printer name (name of the queue you want), Remote system name (the name of the machine that the printer connceted to), and the Remote printer name (share name you given is W2k for sharing the printer).

The L2000 should be able to print to the 1500Q after this configuration.

Re: Printer Linejet 1500Q

Thanks Kenneth,

But actually i don't have problem in hpux. my L2000 can print successfully on my HP LJ 1500Q.
The problem is when i want to add HP LJ 1500Q to my PC with Jetadmin software. Jetadmin can't find the ip and mac address of HP LJ 1500Q.

Re: Printer Linejet 1500Q

Whilst not exactly the same as Boja's problem, I did have a similar problem on a L1000 with 11i and HPPI. Trying to configure a new HP 2200DTN Laser with HPPI, it just couldn't see it, like it was not on the network, similar to Boja described. Yet could ping the printer fine from HP-UX. I had to end up manually configuring it as a remote printer and not use HPPI at all.

Has HP changed something fundamentally in the JetDirect's of their new printers ?

Re: Printer Linejet 1500Q

In my case when I do "hpnpadmin -basnqA 172.20.1.39" I get:

*** Receive NO snmp response!
*** (printer down, cable off, or wrong Get community name?)

Yet I can ping and print (when setup manually)to the printer correctly. Obviously snmp is not working or responding correctly.

I am not sure if Boja gets the same problem with his.

Re: Printer Linejet 1500Q

Hi

Go to www.docs.hp.com
select search this site

use the word linejet

Then

look at

LineJet Print Server User's Guide
LineJet??? Print Server User's Guide /LQH-HW ??? Printers Software License Agreement CAREFULLY READ THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS BEFORE USING THIS PRINTE

This chapter introduces you to the LineJet??? Print Server architecture and
special features, as well as providing information on installation and
configuration tools.
What is the LineJet Print Server Card?
The LineJet Print Server allows you to attach printers on a local area
network (LAN) rather than attaching them directly to a host system.
Following simple configuration steps, these peripherals can be
simultaneously shared with users on the network whether you are using
TCP/IP, NetBIOS over TCP/IP, or IPX (Novell??).
The LineJet Print Server package contains a network interface card to
attach itself and the printer to the network. This Ethernet??? 10/100Base-T
interface connector is what allows the printer to communicate with the
network, and the interface itself has a number of options and indicator
