Printing from hppi HP-UX to Xerox plotter.

Does anyone know how to setup the hppi driver to send postscript files to a Xerox plotter model 8855 with a UP8 controller?

Easily done on Solaris as raw device.
Ho on HP-UX?

Re: Printing from hppi HP-UX to Xerox plotter.

HPPI is specifically designed to work with the proprietary HP JetDirect protocol. Unless the printer has a JetDirect compatibility feature, you don't use hppi, just run SAM and add the plotter as a remote printer. Be sure to check the BSD option, and you'll need to supply the 'internal' name of the printer, something like prn or raw or printer, etc. Note that -o options will be ineffective since the print server (the plotter's LAN card) does not know about any -o options.

We tried adding it with sam with bsd but
it does not work.
Currently we have the HP-UX queue setup
to send to the solaris box that then can
send to the plotter.
Has something to do with raw if you look
at the /etc/printers.conf file on the sun.

Solution, In Sam set Remote Printer name to raw.
