Printing problem on HPUX remote printer(Canon) via windows2003 print server
Hi,
I am having the difficulties in configuring our CanoniR105 printer as a remote printer for hpux server (11iv2-IA64) via windows 2003 print server, which is already installed with Print services for UNIX.
After firing a print request on hpux and subsequently issuing the lpstat command shows "no entries". Further the event logs on the windows server also not giving any errors.
Bottom line is we are getting error message on "Canon Printer console", which works fine for every windows machine on the network.
To find out the problem we have configured an hp lj4350n on the same windows print server, as the same manner Cannon was configured. We are able to take the print outs on hpux by using this hp printer with out having the problems, but the problem only appears to Canon printer.
We would like to find out whether the problem is associated with Canon or windows (print server) or most importantly "HPUX"(Configuration & Settings).
Really Appreciate if some one could shed light to get rid of this situation.
Regards,
M.Tarique

Shalom from Chicago, Mohamed,
Have you installed Samba (CIFS/9000)?
Go to http://software.hp.com and install at the least the CIFS/9000 Samba Client on the system and you will find HP-UX able to connect to the printer resource and submit print jobs.

Hi Steven,
Thanks for you immediate response. Are you referring the "CIFS-Server A.01.11.02 HP CIFS Server (Samba) File and Print Services".It was already installed on the hpux system.

Tarique

Sorry. I made a mistake.
"CIFS-Client A.01.09.02 CIFS Client" was already installed on the hpux.
