Is there some way to configure a printer on an HPUX box running 11.0 that will successfully print to a remote printer on an IBM mainframe?
I thought I did *something* like this is 1996, where the printer was defined similarly to lpd1#lpd1 at the IP address of the mainframe. But then I could have been setting up a different type of printer and just remember it incorrectly.

Hi Jim,
To configure a printer running on a remote system, setup the printer in hp-ux as a remote printer. The remote server name will be the name of the remote IBM server and the printer should be configured as a BSD compatible printer. The remote server should be reachable from the hp server.
You can use SAM to do this task. In the printer add action select the printer type as remote.
Hope this helps.

Re: printing to IBM mainframe printers
Thanks, Sanjay. That did it! Normally I don't use Sam (I use the command line), but this time I did to create the BSD type printer and the request made it to the IBM mainframe. Thanks again.
