Printronix P5008 printer installation in HP-UX

I want to install Printronix P5008 line printer in HP-UX.I have HP C8000 Workstation.Parallel port is not available in workstation.Only serial port is available.I don't have any standard serial cable.Which driver I should use in HP-UX,because printronix is not listed in drivers list.

if what you are saying is that the printer requires a parallel port, but all you have available is a serial port (and no cable) then you will need to look at something like:

a. an external jetdirect print server. this would allow the parallel port to connect to the print server and the connection to the workstation would be ethernet.

b. install the printed locally on some other machine and configure it as a remote printer.

it appears that you would need a plain-text only modelscript. which one would work (or work the best) would be "try it and see".

Thanks for your support.I have made a serial cable & installed a printer in HP-UX.Printer is printing our documents,but in starting it gives junk characters like

From where I can see & configure serial port configuration like Data protocol,baud rate parity etc.

best guess (and thats all it is) is either the "dumb" script you already have, or possibly the net_genericprinter from the the site above.

If you're printing text files, then better choice would be to go for 'dumb' printer model.
