Private interconnect setup for ORACLE RAC 11g in HPUX 11.31

Hi,

we need to setup private interconnect interface. we have requested the ip address to be in the range of 10.1.*.* .

and we will have network ethernet interfaces in two different IOX Bays (say 5/1 and 6/1) for this private interconnect configuration. Is there any requirement for this private interconnect to be configured in different switches (different than public ip address switch) or any cables should be connected between interfaces of both IOX bays.

or this will be like, as the private interconnect interfaces from same VLAN, by default there will be communication between them. we are bit confused on this. hence requesting your advise on this.

OS: HPUX 11.31

Database: ORACLE 11g

HW: hp superdome2 servers 16s... IOX Bays: 5/1 and 6/1
