Problem Configuring Auto Port Aggregation

I got a new N-Class with two 1 GB cards that I want aggregated. The system came from the Business Partner with the hardware and all the software, including APA, already installed. I am currently using the built in 100Base port on the back of the N-Class. One problem is when I connect the fibre optic cables to the 1 GB cards, it disables the 100Base port. Leaving the fibre optic cables off, I tried to configure the APA via SAM, but I was never able to assign the interfaces to a link aggregate. It seems like APA is automatically trying to configure the ports, but it's not working. Has anyone had experience with configuring APA? TIA.

I've got an L class running with multilpe GB network cards aggregated. However, for me, I've found that it's much easier to edit the APA configuration files directly rather then going through SAM. For some reason I just could never quite get SAM to set things up exactly right for me. I will say however that you really do need to have a very good handle on the capabilities of the switch that your plugging into. If you don't know what trunking protocols it supports or your a bit fuzzy on configuring the switch give up now this is not plug and play. As far as loosing your 100BT connection upon plugging in the GB's that not typical either. Possing there's an IP configuration conflict on the system that doesn't present itself until one of the GB's is connected.

I received additional assistance from HP and now have the issue resolved. As Kenneth mentioned, you are really better off NOT using SAM but and editing the config files yourself. The FEC_AUTO parameter was causing the unusual behavior of losing the 100BT port.
