Problem in Booting
Hi,
I am new to working with HP-UX. We recently received an eval HP9000/A500 box. I can't get it to boot and some LEDs on the console are red/blinking (Run is Off, Attention is Flashing and Fault is ON). Can somebody help me with the boot process. Here is what happens when I switch it on:
After testing for all components, Following message appears on console:
***** EARLY BOOT VFP : SYSTEM ALERT *****
SYSTEM NAME: uninitialized
DATE: 12/19/2000 TIME: 23:18:27
ALERT LEVEL: 6 = Boot possible, pending failure - action required
REASON FOR ALERT
SOURCE: 8 = I/O
SOURCE DETAIL: 3 = local bus adapter SOURCE ID: FF
PROBLEM DETAIL: 6 = configuration error
LEDs: RUN ATTENTION FAULT REMOTE POWER
OFF FLASH ON OFF ON
LED State: Boot Failed. Non-critical error detected.
Check Chassis and Console Logs for error messages.

Anything else redisplay the log entry

A: ack read of this entry - X: Disable all future alert messages
Anything else skip redisplay the log entry
->Choice:A

It gives many messages of this kind and then stops. I don't know what to do next.
Any info will be greatly appreaciated.
Thanks,
Ashish

Re: Problem in Booting
It is advisable to check and fix properly all the system components and do a fresh installation of the OS.
