this is the error:
System name: uninitalized
Alert level 12 = Software failure
Reason for alert
Source : 1 = processor
Source Detail: 1 = proccesor general source 0 = 0
Problem Detail : 0 no problem detail
Led's run attention fault remote power
on flash flash off on

Also, it appears to me that you are not changing the hostname itself, but changing the name within GSP which is totally separate.

You changed the hostname through "set parameter" ???

SolutionThe failure you are seeing above is most likely a system panic although it could be a HW induced panic.
Try booting from :
a) a previous kernel ( hpux /stand/vmunix.prev from ISL )
b) in single user mode ( hpux -is )
c) in maintanence mode ( hpux -lm )
If these fail to work, you can unmask the "true" failure message by turning off the Alert level 12 messages as follows:
