i got a weird problem on a 11.11 box after installing the "Strong Random Number Generator" (KRNG11i) Package made by HP.
While installing, this stuff re-built the kernel and rebooted the system.
After reboot, i noticed that all filesystems with the "mincache=direct" option in /etc/fstab weren't mounted anymore. When trying to mount these filesysteme manually, i got the following message:
"vxfs mount: option not supported on this version of vxfs"
OnlineJFS is installed:
obelix:/root# swlist OnlineJFS
# Initializing...
# Contacting target "obelix"...
#
# Target: obelix:/
#
# OnlineJFS B.11.11 Online features of the VxFS File System
OnlineJFS.VXFS-ADV-RUN B.11.11 VXFS-ADV-RUN
"vxlicense -p" gives the message:
obelix:/root# vxlicense -p
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Feature name: HP_OnlineJFS [50]
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Number of licenses: 1 (non-floating)
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Expiration date: Sun Jun 24 10:00:00 2007 (2.3 days ago)
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Release Level: 22
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Machine Class: All
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Site ID: 0
vrts:vxlicense: ERROR: Cannot read lic key from /etc/vx/elm/50.t6c300
I think that this problem is not related with the KRNG package i've installed, but with the kernel rebuild or the reboot itself.
Is it perhaps a licensing problem? Our OnlineJFS license is legally acquired and should be ok :-)
Thanks very much in advance,
Karsten

Re: Problem w/ VxFS mount options after kernel rebuild
A close look at the output shows your OnlineJFS license expired. This is due to a flaw in the way HP configured the license or possibly the way you installed it.
HP support will help with the license.
The strong random number generator had nothing to do with this. Its an OnlineJFS issue.

Re: Problem w/ VxFS mount options after kernel rebuild
Here's what we need to do.
Send a email to HP licensing email address is
hplicense.na@hp.com
include SAID of system with licensing issue.
Basically, you will have to re-install a newer version of onlinejfs.

Re: Problem w/ VxFS mount options after kernel rebuild
As noted, your OnlineJFS license has expired. This is/was a known issue.
If you installed Online JFS from the MCOE then the easiest way is to use an updated MCOE media and do:
# swinstall -x autoselect_dependencies=false -s /cdrom OnlineJFS
In the above, the MCOE would be mounted at /cdrom. No reboot will occur.
If you installed Online JFS as an add-on product, you will find it on the Application CD/DVD set.
Regards!
