problem with ascii-terminal

Hi,

today i installed a very old terminal as console on my old hp-server. Everything is working fine but underscores are display as backslashes and the terminal shows everything in uppercase ( i think this is a feature)

Anybody an idea

If the thing is hp compatible, look at the keys above the function keys.

There should be one that lets you bring up the menu. Then you'll see various functions you can get with the function keys.

You can then change communications and or terminal settings by choosing the appropriate function key and then adjusting various parameters.

Do them one at a time, take a close look at terminal type.

In some old dumb terminals, if the CAPS-LOCK is on while you attempted to log-in, the text would appear in upper-case. May be that is what happening in your case. You wont get the correct key sequence, which may also explain the backslashes for _s .

Try logoff, try a soft/hard reset, keep caps-off, and try logging in again. If it fails, you may want to have a look at the terminal emulation and related settings on your terminal.

Please post the terminal type/model if you are unable to evoke the configuration screen of the terminal.
