problem with autoraid 12 h
Tried to attach an autoraid 12H to a N classs
server. There are 2 luns configured one at
address 3 and the other 4. First slot on back
is connected to the A4800A PCI scsi card. The
2nd slot is connected to the last slot using
a black cable, daisy chain. The 3rd slot has
a terminator in
Problem is that it only sees the drives in lun
4 which is for the y controller. Not sure if
cables are bad or what.
Thanks

Re: problem with autoraid 12 h
Well, it could be a terminator issue or a cable or a controller itself is bad. To troubleshoot, swap your connection and connect the Adapter directly to the controller 'x' so that it should detect LUN 3. Terminate at the same end instead of daisy-chaining to the other 'y' controller.
Life is a promise, fulfill it!

Re: problem with autoraid 12 h
The first thing to check is that controllers X and Y have different SCSI ID's; they absolutely must in your configuration. Moreover, note that LUN's don't have an a SCSI address or ID - the SCSI address is determined by the controller. Each LUN has a primary and alternate path. There is no reason to attempt diffrent primary paths for your LUN's because they share a common external bus. You should really attach the 12H to your box through 2 separate cables and controllers. Your configuration offers no performance improvement but does allow for the failure of an array controller.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
