PRoblem with CA ArcServe and HPUX 11.31

Guys just want to know has anyone ever worked on CA ArcServe Backup for HPUX 11.31. We are facing performance problem with CA ArcServe.

We have DAta Mover installed in one of HPUX 11.31 server and have registered it with the CA Arc Serve Backup Server which is a windows machine.

Now when we fire backup,  the speed which we get is 180 MB/min.

Has nyone faced such problem .. Please help. We have also logged a calll with CA support .

Just a note.

Both the HPUX machine and CA Arc Server WIndows MAchine are connected through SAn to the Tape Library.

Is the any news from CA support?

We have a similar problem, but we don't use a DataMover. We can get some small increase of backup speed by modifing the "-b" parameter in the uag.cfg file. Try to change this parameter from default to maximum allowed. Universal agent should be restarted after that. You can try to increase the "-m" parameter till maximum allowed. But we have no any improvement from "-m" modification.

The case in CA been opened, but still no any real help with this problem. Just only - try to change and inform us...

Aftre some modification restoration works more slowly than befor :o(

Oracle backup speed is faster but also not so good.

some problem can grow from PHKL_41700 patch.

We've try to change from hires_timeout_enable=0 (default) to hires_timeout_enable=1 on the test server and file system backup show a speed near 5GB/min instead of 180MB/min with ARCserve.

But now we caught a strange problem with Oracle backup. This problem didn't desappear after the hires_timeout_enable been installed back to "0". May be this problem has no any relation with the changes of hires_timeout_enable, but any changes in the production environment should be carefully checked.

We updated the uagentd and dagent file. the files were provided by CA and customised for HPUX

Now we are getting 8 GBps :)
