Problem with EMS & HyperFabric
The setup is as follows:
- rp5470 (HP-UX 11i, patches 12/2003)
- 2 x HyperFabric2 adapter (A6386A)
- HyperFabric software latest version 11.11.03
I cannot get /net/interfaces/clic in the resls output!
When I type:
resls /net/interfaces
it says:
/net/interfaces/lan
/net/interfaces/clic
But then when I type: resls /net/interfaces/clic
it returns an error, saying that the resource does not exist.
In the /var/adm/clic_log there is also the following message:
No EMS monitor registered - unable to notify external packages of failure
The same happens for both cards, and the similar happens when I try to add a monitoring request, either via SAM or through terminal interface.
Otherwise, the cards seem to work just fine!
Any ideas about how to remedy this situation?
TIA,
Igor

Re: Problem with EMS & HyperFabric
A common problem with cards that don't have anything assigned to lun0 is the disk array gets misdetected as a disk. But it doesn't work like a disk and EMS gets... um... well, lets say confused.

Re: Problem with EMS & HyperFabric
Check if you have configured HyperFabric Event Monitoring Service properly. The steps to do this can be found here:
http://docs.hp.com/cgi-bin/fsearch/framedisplay?top=/hpux/onlinedocs/B6257-90039/B6257-90039_top.html&con=/hpux/onlinedocs/B6257-90039/00/00/30-con.html&toc=/hpux/onlinedocs/B6257-90039/00/00/30-toc.html&searchterms=ems&queryid=20040827-120820
Also, pls take a look at the troubleshooting section of the HyperFabric Admin Guide:
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/B6257-90039/B6257-90039.html
HTH.
