Problem with L1000 11i talking to ADIC Scalar i500
I using the i500 web interface to load a tape in each of the 3 LTO-3 drives. I can then use tar on the rp4440 to write data to each of the drives. When I try to do any function on these tapes with tar from the L1000, after some timeout period I get a message
"# tar cvf /dev/rmt/8m
tar: cannot open /dev/rmt/8m"
The rp4440 is using a A6795A 2GB FC card and the L1000 is using a A5158A 1GB FC card. The rp is connected to a new 4GB Brocade SAN switch. The L is connected to an old Brocade 2800 1GB switch. Both switches are connected together. The LTO-3 array is directly connected to the 4GB swith. There are also LTO-1 drives on the 2800 switch. The rp is able to do backups to the LTO-1 drives on the 2800 so the switches are talking properly.
Both servers have "FibrChanl-00 B.11.11.12 PCI/HSC FibreChannel;Supptd HW=A6684A,A6685A,A5158A,A6795A" installed.
Both servers are also connected on other identical FC cards to an XP disk array, and that works normally so I assume the FC drives are OK.
I have tried to deleted all files in /dev/rmt, ran ioscan -fC tape, then insf -eC tape. The results were the same, no joy on the L to the tape drives.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Specicially the h/w path tree at/down the FC HBA connected ( fibre ports which are supposed to be zoned to see the i500 ) on L1000 ?

Re: Problem with L1000 11i talking to ADIC Scalar i500
LTO-3 tape drive. That worked with out any software changes. In
the event I still need to have this server talk to the tape
array, I will perminatly install a 2GB card.
Thank you for your help.
