Problem with make_net_recovery

Hi,

I am getting version mismatch between Ignite server and client. Below is the error. Any idea. The error tells me what need to be done but when I try to run taht I also get different error.

ERROR: The versions of the tools required for system recovery on "lajolla"
are different from the versions on the server system "irvmisub". To
ensure that versions are compatible, install the required toolset from
the server irvmisub, using the command: /usr/sbin/swinstall -x
mount_all_filesystems=false -s
irvmisub:/var/opt/ignite/depots/recovery_cmds "*"

Thanks in advance.

Thanks,

Mike

Re: Problem with make_net_recovery

Mike,

Remove the Ignite UX product on the client manually using swremove command and then try again from the server. The server should install the required binaries on the client.

Hi Mike:

Do you have the correct version installed? (i.e. "B" version for 11.x and 10.x installs running on 11.x server -- and full complement of its pieces):

Do you need anything on the client side or not.

Thanks,

Re: Problem with make_net_recovery

Hi

I am running the make_net_recovery command on the client thats where I get the error and it's asking for installing the software.

Re: Problem with make_net_recovery

Here's what I would try:

1) Remove the Ignite/UX software from the client

2) Go to the Ignite/UX Server and from there do a make_net_recovery from the command line, or invoke the Ignite GUI and go through the GUI to add a client and create a make_net_recovery of that client.

When you create a make_net_recovery from the Ignite GUI on the server, it will make sure that the appropriate software is installed on the client. If it is not, then it will install it for you.

As JRF said, make sure you have the appropriate version on the server that knows how to handle the OS level of the BOTH the client and the server, if they are different.

Re: Problem with make_net_recovery

Hi,

On my server I am running B3.2.45 and on client I am runing B3.5.89, running HP-UX 11.00. I alreadt tried running from ignite menu and I still keep getting the same error.

ERROR: Software "Ignite-UX" was not found on host "lajolla:/".
swinstall(1M) failed to install recovery tools from:"irvmisub:/var/opt/ignite/depots/recovery_cmds".

Can I just install B3.2.45 on client. Will that work?

Mike

Life should be easier with the same on both server.

Software is free and no reboot required.
