Problem with modem on MDP port
Hi all,
We are having a problem with the devices attached to our K460 (HP-UX 10.20) MDP card.
While SAM can happily see the car, and available ports etc, we cannot use the modem or UPS control box as the system cannot see these. The Modem fails to initialize and the UPS software reports that there is no UPS device.
This worked fine until yesterday when someone tried to change the MDP cable, and now it doesn't work. Console etc is OK as it is a direct attach.
ANy ideas?

Re: Problem with modem on MDP port
Hi,
You have replaced the cable between the System and the MDP, after which your modem/UPS and other devices do not work.
If you connect a terminal to any one of the MDP port other than console, does that work?, if not see the MDP is fine or not. Else, i would suggest you to replace the cable back and verify ? - simple logic..
As long as you have done nothing with the device special files in HPUX and it was working, no need to touch them as of now..
Hope this helps ..
Cheers !!!
Mathew

Re: Problem with modem on MDP port
They have already gone back to the original cable, and still no luck - sorry wasn't clear from original post
