problem with VG
on our L1000 (B 11.0) one disk died (/dev/dsk/c5t8d0) - it´s
one of a "MirrorDisk/UX"-pair.
I made "vgscan " but vgscan reports an error - what to do now?
Script started on Mon Nov 8 14:04:23 2004
nmc2tcsb,sys,root # vgscan
vgscan: The physical volume "/dev/dsk/c1t2d0" is already recorded in the "/etc/lvmtab" file.

Couldn't stat physical volume "/dev/dsk/c0t1d0":

Re: problem with VG
you have to:
1. replace disk
2. run vgcfgrestore to rebuild structures on failed disk
3. synchronize mirror vgsync command

Re: problem with VG
Useful doc from itrc,
If you find it useful take a printout and keep it,
http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000073905420
the itrc doc id is KBAN00000347.
You need to do vgcfgrestore after replacing the disk and then vgchange / vgsync. Take a look at the doc for a cookbook procedure.
Hope this helps.

Re: problem with VG
'vgscan' is not to be run generously. It's only to be used when your /etc/lvmtab is corrupted or lost, but not when you have issues with the disks.
Follow 'vgcfgrestore' process as outlined by others.
