Problems logging into client after IP address has been changed
We are currently migrating our HP-UX11.0 clients to a different IP segment. Once the IP address has been changed and the client has been rebooted some users can logon and others cannot.
It appears that if the users home directory is on a SUN file server they can logon, but if the users home directory is on an HP file server they cannot.
I do not see any error in the syslog, what do I need to look for? Could this be a lockd/statd problem???

Re: Problems logging into client after IP address has been changed
We need a little more data first. I assume that everybody can ping everybody else using hostname rather than simply IP address. Are you using the automounter? If so, is NIS/NIS+/LDAP managing the automount maps?
Can you explicitly mount a filesystem from one of the "bad" clients? You need to narrow this focus a bit. If nis, does ypcat hosts work? can you ypcat the automount maps? ditto for the equivalent (niscat) if NIS+ is in play.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Problems logging into client after IP address has been changed
Even if the home directory is unavailable, the user's should still be able to login (provided /etc/default/security has been configured not to allow such logins).
Login as root and try to mount the user home directory from the HP Fileserver.
How about the routing table ? are you able to ping/telnet HP filserver ?

Re: Problems logging into client after IP address has been changed
Hi,
Have you modified the /etc/hosts file to reflect the new IP addresses?
Thanks,
