Problems on tabs command

Has anybody experienced problems with the tabs command in the sense that it unconfigures the numerical keys? For example, using putty as ssh client, before typing "tabs -Tvt100", the numerical keys work ok, after the command it stops, and this happens only with putty, with scrt it works ok.
