Problems running Citrix on HPUX workstations

We have a problem where Citrix running on a HP workstation causes the workstation to shutdown. The only option at this point is to cycle the power and reboot the workstation.

The problem is random and we have been unable to ascertain what is causing it other than it seems to be associated to MS Excel 2000.

We are running the Citrix ICA client for HP-UX Version 6.00.920
It is set at 32 Thousand colours. Running a published application called "Desktop"

We are running Citrix Metaframe 1.8 Service Release 2 on Windows 2000 service pack 2.

The operating system is HPUX 10.20
(Migration to HPUX 11.0 is scheduled for year end)

Does anyone know of a patch, either Citrix or HPUX, that will fix this problem or is the problem likely to go away when we move to HPUX 11.0 ?

Re: Problems running Citrix on HPUX workstations

There are known issues wrt your version of citrix and usb devices crashing : my advise is install PHKL_20477 and monitor to see if it occurs again.

Or if you have a core dump have it analysed. FYI : the problem does not occur at 11.x or older versions of Citrix.

To me that sounds like an Xserver hang.. I'd install the latest Xserver patch..

It works for me (tm)

Re: Problems running Citrix on HPUX workstations

Tried the patch PHKL_20477

The workstation remained up for 6 hours which
is a considerable improvement. Will now submit the crash logs, but I expect the resonse to take ages.

Therefore, problem is still on-going.

Re: Problems running Citrix on HPUX workstations

Hi Mr R.
We have no problem on 11.00. I had to test Citrix couple week ago and it was up and running till I shutdown.
