Problems with Automounter!
Hi People,
i recently noticed problems with the Automounter command
/usr/lib/netsvc/fs/automount/automount -f /etc/auto_master on one of our HP-UX
10.20 machines.
The problem is that temporary half of our institute machines cannot be mounted
by the automounter from this machine, thus causing further problems to other
applications.
As i saw it is not possible for this machines to create the corresponding link
from the /tmp_mnt/XXX/hp/ directory to the other machines and place it in the
/XXX/hp/.. directory. After rebooting everything is ok again, but after some
days the same problems appears and as i noticed today disappears as well,
without intervening in any form.
Is there anyone who has or had similar poblems as reported or knows a probable
solution for it?
Thank you in advance
Gian Antonio

Re: Problems with Automounter!
1. First - do ypwhich to make sure nis is running.
2 . Then ypcat auto.xxxx - whatever table is not running or check
/etc/auto_master - try using the following entry only in auto_master
/net -hosts soft
3. Do a ypcat of auto_master to see if what the client is doing syncs with the
server.
Make sure you have the appropriate patches on your system - there are some that
fix automounter hangs.
