Ohh, one last thing, via the gdmconfig running under the CDE, I had enabled the log in syslog, but the only strange thing that I saw in syslog was this lines above:
Couldn't set acct. mgmt for root
gdm_slave_wait_for_login: end verify for ''
gdm_slave_wait_for_login: No login/Bad login
gdm_slave_wait_for_login: In loop
It seens to me that the GDM isn't getting the login name.
Anyone had a clue about it? Thanks in advance..

Re: Problems with Gnome Authentication
I'm not familiar w/Gnome on HP, but it appears to me to be one of 2 scenarios
1) Your system was using some sort of "extra" auth (SSH, PAM, etc.) before you installed Gnome & Gnome needs to be made aware of it.
2) Gnome came "out of the box" with a setting to use such & your HP system is not set to use it - in this case it needs to be turned off in a Gnome config file.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.
Rgds,
Jeff

Re: Problems with Gnome Authentication
Bull's eye Rouchon, my problem is that I was running HP-UX in the Trusted mode...
Thank you very much, now Gnome is running smooth here.. :)
Regards..
