Problems with make_net_recovery/list_expander

Does anyone have any ideas what would cause a mount point error, when the list_expander command is invoked by make_net_recovery?

*********PROBLEM********************
ERROR: Mount point error.
ERROR: Mount point error.
ERROR: The list_expander command failed. This could be due to a problem with
the -x options specified - see messages above.
************************************

all help is much appreciated

Does the destination directory have sufficient space for make_sys_image to create the archive?
