I have a couple of HP 11.23 Itanium servers that need to be upgraded to 11.31.
I am new to HP Unix.
Please suggest in brief the procedure to upgrade the system from 11.23 to 11.31.
I have the HP 11.31 Mission Critical Operating Environment DVD's with me.
Thanks & Regards,

Re: Procedure to upgrade the system from 11.23 to 11.31
It seems HPUX FOE (Foundation Operating Environment) is installed on my server.
bash-3.00# /usr/sbin/swlist -l bundle HPUX11i-*
# Initializing...
# Contacting target "bgpcia1"...
#
# Target: bgpcia1:/
#
HPUX11i-OE B.11.23.0403 HP-UX Foundation Operating Environment Component
As I said earlier I have MCOE (Mission Critical Operating Environment) DVD's for HPUX 11iv3.
Can I upgrade HPUX11iv2 FOE to HPUX11iv3 MCOE?
Please suggest,
Thanks & Regards,

Re: Procedure to upgrade the system from 11.23 to 11.31
MCOE contains FOE as part of Enterprise OE.
See table for details - http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-6460/ch01s02.html

Re: Procedure to upgrade the system from 11.23 to 11.31
I have upgraded the system firmware to 04.21 (04.10 was the prerequisite for 11iv3).
Later I mounted the DVD and ran the update-ux command to update the OS.
However, I am getting error. Please suggest.

Re: Procedure to upgrade the system from 11.23 to 11.31
Thanks a lot.
I could finally upgrade the HPUX 11iv2 to 11iv3.
I had to update the firmware of my rx4640 .
I got an error when I ran the "update-ux -s /dvdrom HPUX11i-OE" command.
This was resolved after upgrading the update-ux package from the 11iv3 dvd by using the command "swinstall -s /dvdrom Update-UX"
All of these are listed in the document at the URL you provided me earlier.
Thanks & regards,
-Gnana-
